The German Association of General Practitioners calls for legal certainty for doctors who want to administer seven instead of six doses per ampoule of the corona vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer.

“It cannot be that vaccination doses are thrown away every day in Germany,” said association boss Ulrich Weigeldt to the newspapers of the Funke media group (Wednesday).

In dealing with the seventh dose of vaccination, there is a need for legal certainty nationwide.

Weigeldt emphasized that general practitioners who wanted to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible with the existing vaccine should not risk "one foot in jail".

SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach also spoke out in favor of legal security for the use of the seventh dose of Biontech.

Only six doses per ampoule are allowed for the vaccine - using the seventh is not prohibited, but not legally guaranteed.

"I understand that many doctors throw away the seventh dose of the Biontech vaccine for fear of the liability risk," Lauterbach told the newspapers and demanded: "The state must assume the liability risk."
