Following the suspected abuses, the production behind Paradise hotel has been criticized - and now this year's season has been stopped completely.

- Here was the limit for what viewers accept, says Helle Schunnesson who is the editor of Elle.

She was one of the presenters for Big Brother 2020 - but chose to drop out of production.

- I quit because my values did not rhyme with the program's values.

You do a lot to get viewers and to make good TV.

But it must not blind the production companies completely.

"Boundaries have been pushed"

SVT's review shows that testimonies of sexual harassment and abuse reported to the police have been a recurring feature in Swedish reality soaps year after year.

- It is a genre that involves finding extreme personality types, stuffing them in a pressure cooker with a lot of alcohol and then encouraging them to be extreme.

I feel that the boundaries have been pushed.

It has become dirtier and harder, says Helle Schunnesson.

She is critical of how the production behind Paradise hotel has handled the suspected abuses during this year's season.

- As a woman, you are not even safe in a house full of cameras.

You get your eyes open for how far they are willing to go to get viewer numbers.

It is not until the public has reacted that they have chosen to cancel this season and remove it.

The production company's answer

Matilda Snöwall, CEO of the production company Mastiff, which is behind Paradise Hotel, rejects the criticism.

- We have a very professional and dedicated team that works with the program and has done so for a long time.

Of course, no one would see a nuisance without intervening and saying stop.

Of course we have zero tolerance for that, she says.
