Shows, but no popcorn.

The seated cinemas and theaters will be able to breathe again.

They will open their doors after more than six months of closure due to the Covid-19 health crisis.

The Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot formalized the main lines of the recovery, which remain to be "refined", during a night session on Monday at the National Assembly.

In detail: reopening at 35% of the gauge on May 19 for seated cinemas and theaters, within the limit of 800 spectators, then gauge at 65% on June 9 and total lifting of the gauges on July 1.

Sale of confectionery, popcorn and catering will remain prohibited initially.

A threshold of 8 m2 per visitor imposed on museums

To overcome the "wall of 150 French films and 250 foreign films" awaiting release, the minister hopes that distributors will manage to agree on "a concerted schedule", a project still under discussion. Private theaters that choose to reopen only in September for economic reasons will also be “supported”.

As for museums and monuments, a threshold of 8 m2 per visitor will be imposed on reopening, which “could” be relaxed to 4 m2 per visitor on June 9.

Regarding standing concert halls, which remain closed and without perspective, test concerts, two of which (Paris and Marseille) await ministerial authorization, will be "a help in defining" future reopening protocols.

"An interministerial meeting (should take place) in the coming days to determine if an authorization decision can be taken," she said.

"We will not let anyone down"

In terms of employment, the minister recognized that it was "necessary to provide a follow-up to the white year" which benefited the intermittents of the show, and indicated that "several scenarios are on the table", but a referred to the current "consultation".

The minister promised that "all cultural sectors" would be helped during the weeks of gradual reopening of cultural places, the terms of which (gauges, precise protocols, etc.) are being refined with professionals.

"We will not let anyone down", she assured, specifying that "discussions with Bercy" should "be completed soon" to support the recovery with compensation funds for ticket offices and an extension of support systems in place. .
