• Two people from the same municipal service in Aix-en-Provence died in ten days.

  • After this cluster, the city opened an administrative investigation and summoned two CHSCTs.

  • The relatives of the victims accuse the town hall of failure to respect the health protocol.

“When you have seven out of twelve agents who are infected, yes, I call that a cluster. Karim Sebahi does not hide his concern. For the past few weeks, the agents of the city of Aix-en-Provence, which this FO general secretary represents within the community, have been in complete disarray. In the civil status service, almost all the agents contracted the coronavirus in a few days. Worse yet: two of them died on April 17 and 27, and a third person is believed to be in a coma.

“The two people who died were vulnerable people,” says Karim Sebahi.

We are in the process of verifying the information, but it would seem that there was clearly a problem in the application of the health protocol, the wearing of the mask and the respect of barrier gestures.

The daughter of one of the deceased told us in particular that her mother should not be in contact with the public, based on the occupational medicine report, because of her vulnerable state of health.

However, she replaced an absent agent, whose post included contact with the public.

If this is true, it is a serious malfunction.

"Festive gatherings"

The alert was indeed given to the press a few days ago, by the relatives of the two deceased agents. With France 3, the two families jointly denounce the failings of the municipality of Aix-en-Provence in the application of the health protocol, and plan to file a complaint. "A member of the staff of the same service tested positive for Covid-19 would have come to work knowingly" to continue to receive his attendance bonus "", writes France 3, citing the daughter of one of the victims.

“There would also have been festive gatherings without a mask, inside the service,” says Kamel Sebahi.

Here too, we are trying to find out whether these facts are true.

"In a press release sent this Tuesday evening, the city of Aix-en-Provence indicates that the mayor of the sub-prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône paid tribute to the two agents in a letter sent that same day members of the municipal administration.

An administrative inquiry

“We have to deal with more contagious variants,” writes Maryse Joissains.

For the past week, we have been counting about thirty Covid-19 cases within the services, while we have only counted about fifteen on average simultaneously since the start of the crisis.

"

An administrative investigation is underway.

A first extraordinary CHSCT met on April 21, while a second was held this Wednesday afternoon, aimed at "presenting the measures envisaged to strengthen the protection of municipal officials".

Contacted, the town hall ensures that the conclusions of this CHSCT will be communicated this Thursday in the morning.
