A wave in commemoration of Cardinal Jeong Jin-seok who died last night (27th) continues today (28th). Originally, Cardinal Jeong Jin-seok, who wanted to become a scientist, lived an innocent life all his life, but was not stingy about sharing what he had.

Reporter Kim Yong-tae looked back on the life of Cardinal Chung, who left after leaving the last prayer of "Always be happy."

An 8-year-old boy who received his first communion at Myeongdong Cathedral in 1939 wanted to become a scientist.

Although he entered the College of Engineering at Seoul National University, the horrors of the Korean War led the young man Jin-seok Jeong to the path of theology, not science.

Following the ordination of a priest in 1961, he was appointed as the head of the Cheongju parish in 1970.

My mother wanted her son, who became a bishop, to take a picture together.

Like his greedy mother, Cardinal Chung didn't turn on the air conditioner well even in the middle of the summer, and he always lived a life of emptiness enough to eat at the diocese's dining room.

When he became the second cardinal in Korea after Cardinal Kim Soo-hwan, he tried hard to lower himself.

[High jeongjinseok Cardinal (after Cardinal seoim 2006): not because of my own some point (I think) place the whole of our nationals of the Republic of Korea occupies the world -

a warning not to ignore the bioethics for such human embryonic stem cell research. While doing so, I myself took the lead in the organ donation movement.

[The late Cardinal Jin-seok Jeong (2009): One part of the body is inherited by another person, so the life is prolonged. It is the most beautiful expression of love.]

All the money sent by believers was donated and only 8 million won remained in the bankbook, but after resigning from the Seoul Archdiocese, I devoted myself to writing activities and left 51 books.

The last thing I left was a prayer to be happy.

[Heo Young-yeop/Seoul Archdiocese spokesman for Catholicism: Always be happy. It is God's will to live happily.]

Cardinal Chung has now returned to the Myeongdong Cathedral, where he was first baptized as a shepherd in heaven.
