The Berlin public prosecutor recently launched an investigation against rapper Bushido and his accused ex-business partner Arafat Abou-Chaker on suspicion of extortion.

This became known on Wednesday in the trial against clan chief Arafat Abou-Chaker at the Berlin district court.

The trigger was a criminal complaint filed in March 2021 by a law firm, said the presiding judge.

Initially, it was not reported against whom alleged blackmail is alleged to have been directed.

The background should be allegations of a Berlin record label that Bushido left in 2004 after differences, it said on the sidelines of the ongoing criminal proceedings.

Arafat Abou-Chaker helped him break up, the musician said as a witness in the trial against his ex-business partner.

One of Abou-Chaker's lawyers said on Wednesday on the sidelines of the trial of the new criminal complaint: "I'll take a look at it and will saw the accusation through."

The four Abou-Chaker brothers have been silent so far

The process, which has been running for eight months, concerns alleged crimes to the detriment of Bushido after he broke off relations with his long-term business partner in September 2017.

Arafat Abou-Chaker did not want to accept this and unjustifiably asked Bushido to pay millions and participate in his music business for 15 years.

The musician was threatened, insulted, locked in an office in January 2018 and attacked with a water bottle and chair.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the 45-year-old main defendant of insulting, deprivation of liberty, attempted serious blackmail, coercion and dangerous bodily harm.

Three brothers of the clan chief are also accused.

The four men have so far remained silent about the allegations.

Bushido, real name Anis Ferchichi, is a witness and co-plaintiff in the trial. In his testimony, which lasted 25 days, he compared his relationship with Arafat Abou-Chaker to a forced marriage and stated that he had endured "involuntary payments" for years. He gave in for a long time out of fear. The trial will continue on May 3rd.
