In court, the pop singer Britney Spears wants to speak personally about her guardianship.

This is a wish of the 39-year-old, said her lawyer Samuel Ingham after information from several US media.

The hearing is due to take place on June 23.

According to Ingham, Spears had asked for a quick appointment.

In the legal dispute with her father about her guardianship, Spears had so far hardly commented on herself.

After the singer collapsed mentally due to professional and personal problems, a court decided in 2008 to transfer guardianship to her father.

Since then, James Spears has managed his famous daughter's fortune.

Last year, Britney Spears went to court to have him removed from that role.

In November, Judge Brenda Penny confirmed guardianship in the Los Angeles District Superior Court, but named a financial trustee as co-guardian at the musician's request.

James Spears' objections to the division of guardianship were dismissed in February.

A documentary published in the New York Times at the beginning of February about Spears' life under the tutelage of her father sparked heated discussions, especially on social networks. Many celebrities expressed their support for the singer under the hashtag #FreeBritney.
