A "monitoring meeting" was held in Tokyo, and experts said that the current infection situation is similar to that before and after Christmas last year before the infection spread rapidly at the beginning of the year. He pointed out that if the number of contacts increases, there is a concern that the infection will spread rapidly beyond the third wave, and it is necessary to thoroughly control the flow of people.

During the meeting, experts maintained the infection status and medical care provision system in Tokyo at the highest alert level of the four levels.

Regarding the infection status, the 7-day average of new positives was about 716 as of 27th of this month, 118% of about 644 as of 21st of this month, which is a high level of about 120% for 3 consecutive weeks. I explained.

The percentage of people infected with the virus with the highly infectious "N501Y" mutation was 30.0% in the week until the 11th of this month, but increased to 44.4% in the week until the 18th of this month, which is an epidemic. He explained that the subject is rapidly shifting to mutant viruses.

On top of that, experts pointed out that the number of new positives is increasing rapidly, and that the current infection situation is similar to that around Christmas last year before the spread of the infection at the beginning of the year.

He pointed out that if the number of contacts between people increases during the Golden Week holidays, there is a risk of a rapid spread of infection beyond the third wave, and it is necessary to thoroughly control the flow of people.

Meanwhile, experts explained that the spread of the mutant virus could put a strain on the medical care provision system due to the Golden Week holidays.

They estimated that if almost all of them were replaced with the mutant virus, there would be 1742 new positives and 4450 inpatients in two weeks.

On top of that, it is necessary to thoroughly prevent the increase in new positives, especially the infection to the elderly, and prevent the outbreak of severely ill patients due to the mutant virus.
