During an investigation by the Labor Standards Inspection Office, where people who have been infected with the new coronavirus and are recognized as having an industrial accident check their symptoms, support groups have appealed for improvement, saying that there are cases in which they cannot receive compensation for leave of absence and are in need of living. I did.

We met in Tokyo with an organization that supports people infected with the new coronavirus to apply for work-related accidents.

If you apply for leave compensation because you have an illness related to your work, the Labor Standards Inspection Office will investigate whether it is due to your work or if you need to take a leave, and decide on the payment.

According to a support group, a contract employee in her 40s who worked as a clerk at a medical institution was confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus in August last year, and was certified as an industrial accident in February.

The woman continued to have symptoms such as low-grade fever and malaise, but returned to work last September after taking medicine.

However, as his symptoms worsened, he was forced to take a leave of absence from October and lost his job last month due to hiring.

The woman applied for leave compensation in January and February, but the Labor Standards Inspection Office responded that it was under investigation, and it was not approved.

The woman is raising her 6th grade daughter by herself and says, "I've managed to live by withdrawing my savings and using national loans, but I'm worried about my future life." It was.

According to the "National Occupational Safety and Health Center Liaison Conference" of the support organization, there are other cases in which the Labor Standards Inspection Office cannot receive compensation for leave after being infected with the new coronavirus and being certified as an industrial accident. It means that there is.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, "It may take some time to investigate when there is a big change in symptoms, but it cannot be said unconditionally. We are conducting necessary investigations according to individual cases."
