  The case involved a black storm that occurred at the PolyU during the legislative amendment turmoil the previous year.

On November 17, 2019, a large number of demonstrators occupied the PolyU campus and clashed fiercely with the police. The incident ended after 13 days.

After the PolyU was unblocked, the police seized 3989 petrol bombs, 1,339 explosives, 601 corrosive liquids, and 573 weapons on campus.
