According to Furano City, a man in his 40s who was on the alert for bears was attacked by a bear near the forest in Nishitappu, Furano City, around 9 am on the 27th.

A man is injured in his head and hands and is taken to a hospital in Asahikawa City by a doctor helicopter for medical treatment.

There is no difference in life.

On the 26th, near the scene, there was information on the appearance of bears, so the man was on alert with a man from the Hunting Association and encountered three brown bears, and was attacked by one that seems to be his parent.

The bear that attacked the man out of the three was exterminated by a gun on the spot, and the remaining two bears, which appear to be cubs, escaped.

Police and Furano City are increasing their vigilance and calling attention to nearby residents, saying that bears that have finished hibernation in the spring have begun activities.

The site is located near the forest, which is dotted with houses, about 8 km north of JR Higashi-Shikagoe Station in Minamifurano Town, and the fields are spread out in the immediate vicinity.
