Determined to "accelerate the energy transition", Sytral put into circulation this Monday 17 new new generation 100% electric trolleybuses in Lyon on line C13.

A line that can transport 27,000 travelers per day between the 8th arrondissement of Lyon and Caluire.

Equipped with IMC (In motion charging) technology and silent, these new vehicles will have the capacity to travel 40% of their journey “in complete autonomy without an electrified line”.

“The electrical energy is stored in on-board batteries when the trolley travels under the overhead contact lines,” explains Sytral.

This will make it possible to avoid deviations or work zones located on their route.

400 more “green” buses by 2026

Another novelty: the machines are much larger.

They will offer a capacity of 30% of additional travelers.

"By replacing our diesel buses with electric vehicles and natural gas, we are responding to the challenges of sustainable mobility in our territories, which are decisive in dealing with the climate emergency", welcomed the president of Sytral Bruno Bernard, specifying that 400 electric or gas buses will be deployed on the TCL network by 2026.
