A "Knife Introductory Ceremony" was held at a high school in Hioki City, Kagoshima Prefecture, to hand over new kitchen knives to first-year high school students who entered the school with the aim of becoming a cook and wish to improve their cooking skills.

Every year at Kagoshima Josei High School in Hioki City, we hand over new kitchen knives to new students in the cooking department and hold a "kitchen knife soul ceremony" to wish for improvement in technology.

The ceremony on the 26th was attended by 91 first-year students of the cooking department dressed in brand new cooking clothes, and a Shinto ritual was held to pray for the improvement of skills and safety in practical training.

On behalf of the first graders, Sota Shimomai stated his determination, "I would like to learn many cooking techniques using this knife and strive to become a good cook."

After that, a set of 5 knives was handed to the 6 representatives of the freshmen.

Students in the cooking department will learn how to sharpen and handle kitchen knives, and will continue to practice with the aim of obtaining a license as a cook.

The girl student said, "First of all, I want to be able to handle fish well. I'm really looking forward to it."

A boy student also said, "I want to use kitchen knives carefully. I want to learn various techniques and become a cook who can make people smile."
