Far from ready-made ideas and stereotypical naive propositions of the dilemma of “terrorism” and “political Islam,” the episodes of the new Ramadan series “Cairo-Kabul,” written by Abdul Rahim Kamal and directed by Hossam Ali, continue on the way to betting on the lead, from the gate of an interesting dramatic story that tells The march of four friends gathered by the neighborhood of Sayyida Zainab Al-Masry, and the "section of the blanket" (the right of the two sides that gathered them under the roof of a blanket on the roof of the building), which revealed from the beginning of the events their directions and future paths, in which "Tariq", the lover of the material and the reputation later, A famous journalist and "Ramzi" is a supporter of "jihad with the sword", a leader in one of the terrorist groups. As for the childhood friend "Adel", who preferred the approach of justice and equality, he made his way in charge of the national security, unlike "Khaled" who clung to the dream of cinema, and was assassinated by its hateful reality after meeting his childhood friends in one of the European capitals.

The sequence of events, through the technique of mixing the present and the past at work, reveals the position of its protagonists on the daily events, which the writer succeeded in employing with subtlety and skill of note in the work, through an alternating narration of the basic historical facts that fall into the dramatic body as well as the paths of the characters. "Ramzi", performed by Egyptian star Tarek Lotfi, who returned to the screen after years of absence, with its controversial details, and his birth moments coinciding with the stepping down of the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, and later the assassination of the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and a number of symbols of moderation at the hands of extremist groups. While the work, since its first episodes, revealed to us how “Ramzi” came to the so-called “caliph” title, which was not accomplished until after he pledged allegiance to a suspicious “external party” to whom he pledged allegiance and paid dearly for his “illicit” ambition, sacrificing childhood friends (assassination) Khaled) and those close to him, in the scene of the horrific liquidation of his brother-in-law, who refused to pledge allegiance to him.

In turn, the Egyptian star Fathy Abdel Wahab, one of his most important television roles, is presenting his second artistic collaboration this year with director Hossam Ali after the series "The Last Nafs" Ramadan 2019, as he presents the character of the opportunist broadcaster, "Tariq", who seeks in twisted ways that reveal in a mean way and "Immoral", about the paranoia, the reputation, and the money that drives it and makes it indifferent to the feelings of people or the calamities that they face in order to achieve more fame and spread. In the opposite bank, Khaled Al-Sawy, a multi-talented man, whether in the field of acting or directing, fictional and theatrical composition, as well as poetry, succeeded in presenting the character of "Adel" the national security officer who is faithful to his national duties and is devoted to his professional and family responsibilities in which he was a brilliantly mixed between Lightness of blood, sense of humor and firmness in taking appropriate decisions to confront the wave of terrorism that is lurking in the security and safety of his homeland. While the director and writer of the work has succeeded so far, in formulating a different work, not only from the point of view of the idea and the proposition, but in terms of the artistic management of the stars, who clearly contributed to its consecration as one of the most prominent Ramadan works worth watching, and which succeeded in presenting an elegant and purposeful dramatic material that it lacks Arab screens at the present time.
