Several thousand people took part on Sunday in Paris, in a festive atmosphere, in the "lesbian march", demanding access to medically assisted procreation (PMA) for all.

Several personalities were involved in the demonstration, such as the director Céline Sciamma, the actress Adèle Haenel and the elected Parisian ecologist and lesbian activist Alice Coffin, who saw in the event a "translation into a demonstration" of a " rise ”of the lesbian movement in recent years.

The dense procession brought together 4,400 people according to the Paris police headquarters, 10,000 according to the organizers.

"We expected to bring together 500 people, there are 10,000, it's really huge," assured Marlène, member of the Lesbian Collages coordination at the initiative of the event.

"I hope that everyone will remember this date, that people will remember that April 25 is lesbian visibility day," added the young woman.

"Lesbian history is forgotten"

"Free PMA, for all, that is not negotiable", "Macron hypocrite, lesbians go to Belgium!

Were slogans echoed by the crowd.

"Muslim and proud lesbians", "feminism is theory, lesbianism is practice" or "we are the lesbian genius", could we read in the forest of signs mixed with rainbow flags -sky floating above a procession, between the places of Châtelet and the Republic.

The demonstration took place in the wake of the debates around the bioethics law and the rejection by the Senate in February of the extension of the assisted reproduction to single women and female couples, provoking the ire of activists who denounced a "Law at a discount" and a "totally absent lesbian word" from the debates.

"The newspapers said that it was [this Sunday] the first lesbian march in France but no, it was in 1980", recalls Marlène, in reference to the initiative launched in the 1970s by the group of radical lesbians of Jussieu .

"It is significant of the fact that lesbian history is forgotten", insists the activist, who hopes that this demonstration will be part of a "historical legacy", she said.
