Guangzhou Daily News (all-media reporters Li Dong, correspondents Huang Zhencong, Chen Yuying, Yin Lishuo) Swipe short videos to "beauties" and add a friend?

Watch out for your wallet!

Criminals use the chat and friend function in the short video platform to commit fraud, pretending to be "beauties" and boasting "brothers" and "handsome guys", relax their vigilance a little, and become "wallet killers."

Recently, the Guangzhou Huadu police destroyed a gang that used the Douyin platform to commit fraud through "making friends", criminally detained 18 suspects, and seized a group of tools for committing crimes.

In early April, the Huadu police found a fraud gang in the jurisdiction based on clues.

After several days of in-depth investigations, the policeman in charge of the case conducted a centralized network collection on the morning of April 9th, and arrested Luo and other 4 suspects in a business center on Airport Road, Baiyun District, and arrested Li and others in Shijing No. 1 Building in Baiyun District. The suspects seized 14 laptop computers, 20 work mobile phones, a batch of crime tools such as pay slips, work progress records, and 80,000 yuan in cash.

At present, 18 suspects have been criminally detained by Huadu police in accordance with the law, and the case is still under investigation.

Do not believe in private chats on the platform, be careful of being fattened before "slaughtering"

The police handling the case stated that fraud by making friends now accounts for a large part of the fraud cases. One of the most important reasons is that the word "color" is predominant. Looking at the video and selfies of "beauties" in the other party's account, I think that adding a "beautiful" friend will not suffer, and even show off his capital to friends.

After discovering that there was a risk warning during the transfer, some victims still chose to listen to the scammers' various "talking skills" and transfer the money to the scammer's account. Only when they were hacked and discovered that they had been deceived, they felt both regret and ashamed.

The police reminded that you need to be cautious when making friends online, and the trap of "truth" is ultimately money.

If the other party asks for remittances due to family members' illness or company funding shortages, you must be more vigilant.

Deep fraud

The fraud gang implements streamline operations, showing obvious characteristics of groupization and professionalism.

Cultivate a large number of accounts and start-up training skills: The gang recruits through the Internet or acquaintances, etc., members will be assigned "beauty" Douyin accounts and WeChat accounts for use, and will conduct "speaking skills training" in the old and new ways. Teach how to strike up a conversation and trick the victim on the platform.

Add WeChat to cultivate "feelings": After chatting for a period of time, I propose to add WeChat friends, and then continue to chat with them as "beauties", and greet the victim every day.

At the same time, send the company's unified copywriting photos in the circle of friends to create a good image and increase credibility invisibly.

Fabricate reasons and ask for money: After the relationship gets closer, the "beauty" asks for money from the other party on the grounds that their relatives are sick and need funds for treatment. Generally, the victim will think it is a reason for "emergency", and it is difficult to refuse. The mentality of "beauty" will be transferred to the money, and once the account is received, the "beauty" will block the victim.
