On Sunday evening, April 25, in the Moscow Vegas City Hall, the names of the winners of the 34th Nika National Cinematic Award were announced.

In 2020, the honoring of the winners was canceled due to the situation with the spread of the coronavirus, so the awards were presented immediately in the previous two years.

The best feature film of 2020, according to academicians, was the film "Dear Comrades!"

Among the nominees were "Blockade Diary" by Andrey Zaitsev, "Whaler" by Philip Yuriev, "Scarecrow" by Dmitry Davydov and "Doctor Liza" by Oksana Karas.

For the 2019 award, the films Sin by Andrei Konchalovsky, Odessa by Valery Todorovsky, Dylda by Kantemir Balagov, Hayk by Sergei Dvortsevoy competed, but Nick was awarded to director Andrei Smirnov and producer Irina Smirnova, who presented the film French.

Inspiration Exhale (Dito Tsintsadze), filmed in Georgia, was recognized as the outstanding film of the CIS and Baltic countries for 2019.

The award for 2020 went to the painting "Shambala" (Artyk Suyundukov, Kyrgyzstan).

The montage prize was awarded to Peter Markovich, who worked on the painting "Hayka", as well as Marina Likhacheva and Dmitry Slobtsov - they took part in the creation of the tape "Silver Skates".

"Nick" for the best screenplay was awarded to Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the script and novel that formed the basis of the film "Text", and Mikhail Segal ("Deeper!").

Alexander Simonov and Irina Uralskaya won the Best Cinematography nomination.

They worked on the filming of the films "Sin" and "Blockade Diary", respectively.

Rostislav Alimov ("Dylda") and Polina Volynkina ("Dear comrades!") Were noted for their outstanding work as a sound engineer.

Also highlighted were the works of costume designers Dmitry Andreev, Tatyana Patrahaltseva and Galina Solodovnikova, who created the images of the heroes of the films "Sin" and "Silver Skates".

Maurizio Sabatini and Alexander Zagoskin took prizes for the best work of the artist ("Sin" and "Silver Skates", respectively).

Leonid Yarmolnik and Alexander Pal, who starred in the films "Odessa" and "Deeper!", Were awarded for the main male role.

In a similar female category, the prize for 2020 was shared by Yulia Vysotskaya (Dear Comrades!) And Chulpan Khamatova (Doctor Liza).

In 2019, two awards were also presented - Samal Eslyamova (Hayka) and Victoria Miroshnichenko (Dylda).

For supporting roles, the statuettes were awarded to Natalya Tenyakova and Alexander Baluev (Frenchman), Tatyana Dogileva (Doctor Liza) and Sergei Dreyden (Blockade Diary).

"Nika" for the best music went to the composer Anna Drubich for accompanying Valery Todorovsky's paintings "Odessa" and "Hypnosis" - thus she became the winner for 2019 and 2020.

The award in the category "Discovery of the Year" (2019) was received by Alexander Zolotukhin: according to academicians, he did an outstanding job on the script for the film "Russian Boy".

Also, the statuette was awarded to the director and screenwriter of the film "Kitoboy" Philip Yuriev.

The Alexei German Prize for Contribution to National Cinematography was awarded to cartoonist Leonid Shvartsman.

The special prize of the Academy Council “For creative achievements in the art of television cinema” went to Boris Khlebnikov, who presented the mini-series “Storm” in 2019.

Among the projects of 2020, the prize was awarded to Gennady Ostrovsky's multi-part film "The Wolf".

A separate award for her role in the international television project "New Pope" directed by Paolo Sorrentino went to actress Yulia Snigir.

The National Cinematographic Prize "Nika" was established in 1987 by the Secretariat of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR.

This initiative was put forward by the director and actor Julius Gusman (who is now the artistic director of the award) and screenwriter Viktor Merezhko.

Merezhko was the first president of the Russian Academy of Motion Picture Arts.

Later the academy was headed by Eldar Ryazanov and Alexey Batalov.

Since 2013, the post has been held by director Andrei Konchalovsky.

The winners are chosen by secret ballot of academicians.

The organization's presidium includes Garry Bardin, Alla Surikova, Oleg Basilashvili, Alexander Sokurov, Alexander Mitta, Sergey Nikonenko, Inna Churikova, Karen Shakhnazarov and other prominent figures of Russian cinema.
