[Commentary] On the evening of April 24, the spy war movie "Above the Cliff" co-produced by China News Network held its world premiere in Beijing. The film's creator shared the story behind the scenes with the audience.

　　"Above the Cliff" is adapted from the TV series "The Cliff", which was created by screenwriter Quan Yongxian and was previously aired and was well received.

The film is still written by Quan Yongxian. It tells the story of several protagonists played by Zhang Yi, Yu Hewei, Qin Hailu, Zhu Yawen and others in Northeast China in the 1930s, collecting intelligence and exposing the Japanese army’s crimes against humanity.

　　This time, telling the tense spy war story in the extreme ice and snow is Zhang Yimou's new attempt in film themes.

　　As a director, "Above the Cliff" is the first spy film directed by Zhang Yimou.
