Alber Elbaz, the designer who worked as a creative spirit for the Lanvin fashion house for a long time, died on Saturday at the age of 59.

This was confirmed by the luxury goods group Compagnie Financière Richemont, which is currently working with Elbaz for its own label AZ Factory.

There is still no official statement on the cause of death.

After a five-year hiatus, Elbaz founded the new label in early 2021 and wanted to combine fashion, entertainment and technology.

Richemont founder Johann Rupert wrote in his statement that he has not only lost a colleague, but also a “beloved friend”.

The Casablanca-born Israeli Elbaz was extremely popular in the fashion scene, he gave master classes, appeared as an entertainer at lecterns, was a particularly welcome guest at international industry conferences, illustrated bags for LeSportsac and designed a collection for Tod's.

In 2016, he left the Lanvin fashion house in a dispute and has not returned to the big fashion scene as a designer since then.
