China News Service, Hong Kong, April 25. The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chen Maobo, stated in his blog on the 25th that if Hong Kong is relatively backward in vaccination and when the overseas market resumes personnel exchanges to a greater extent, Hong Kong will become Relatively limited, economic recovery will also be delayed.

Chen Maobo said that Hong Kong's exports have resumed growth for four consecutive months driven by the improvement of the external environment. The export performance of the Mainland and other Asian economies is still doing well. I believe that the upcoming Hong Kong export figures for March will continue to improve.

Locally, when the epidemic is under control, the retail and restaurant market atmosphere has improved significantly, and the business atmosphere has also improved slightly.

However, the latest unemployment rate is still 6.8%, and nearly 260,000 people are unemployed. The pain of the migrant workers is still strong.

Chen Maobo said that all parts of the world are making every effort to promote vaccinations against the new coronavirus. Take the United States and the United Kingdom as examples. The proportion of people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine has reached 40% of the total population. Israel’s immunization rate has exceeded 60%, and Hong Kong’s only More than 10%.

In addition, the current progress of vaccination in Europe, the United States and other places is good, and they are actively deploying to resume international travel.

If Hong Kong is relatively backward in terms of vaccination, when the overseas market resumes to a large extent, Hong Kong will become relatively restricted and its economic recovery will also be delayed.

He said that only when a large proportion of citizens are vaccinated can social distancing restrictions be further relaxed, citizens' lives can return to normal and cross-border business travel will be more convenient.

The local epidemic must be brought under full control as soon as possible to resume business trips and travellers from other places, otherwise the job market will be difficult to fully improve.

Chen Maobo said that there is an adequate supply of vaccines in Hong Kong, and there are also two different vaccines for the public to choose from, and the coverage of vaccination sites is also wide, in order to make it convenient for the public.

The vaccination plan has now been expanded to cover all persons aged 16 or above, and conditions are allowed to expedite vaccination.

He urged that for the health of himself and his family members and the steady economic recovery, he hopes that everyone will be actively vaccinated and encourage family and friends to participate.
