Germany's resident doctors are calling for the vaccination prioritization to be completely lifted for all vaccines. “The prioritization should be lifted in two or three weeks at the latest, because we expect a clear signal from the vaccination summit,” said Dirk Heinrich, chairman of the Virchowbund, of the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”. “If group 2, that is, the 70 to 80 year olds and those with a serious previous illness, has been largely vaccinated, approval is required. We'll be that far in mid-May. ”The federal and state governments want to hold a vaccination summit this Monday (April 26th).

The proposal by Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) to lift the prioritization in June came "much too late," said Heinrich. From May onwards there will be 1.5 million vaccine doses per week for resident doctors, and from June there will be up to 3.5 million doses. “The practices have to offer additional consultation hours for vaccination alone. If the search for authorized persons is then added, it would simply no longer be possible, ”he warned. "So: If the prioritization does not disappear as quickly as possible, we will bureaucratize a vaccination jam."

For the practices it means an enormous loss of time to identify the patients who should be more likely than others, explained Heinrich.

No doctor has every previously ill patient in mind.

"And all of this comes in addition to the actual task of the resident doctors, namely to care for the sick."

Heinrich also called for more freedom for those who had been vaccinated.

"The vaccination summit should definitely decide that those who have been vaccinated should be put on an equal footing with those who have tested negative." Those who have been vaccinated twice "probably pose a significantly lower risk than people with negative rapid test results".

In addition, there should be swift relaxation: "At least the outdoor catering can be opened immediately to those who have tested negative and vaccinated." According to Heinrich, there are practically no infections in the fresh air.

He sees no reason to keep the outdoor restaurants closed longer as long as clearances and the other AHA rules are observed in the beer garden and on café terraces.

Vaccinated people should also be allowed back into the museum.

"All of this helps enormously in relieving the lockdown stress that millions of people suffer from."
