The Cologne band “Die Höhner” (“Viva Colonia”) and their guitarist Joost Vergoossen go their separate ways.

The musician had published an "attitude" on the global corona pandemic in several postings on his social media platforms, which did not correspond to the convictions of the other members, wrote the band on their Facebook page on Sunday.

Numerous discussions about Covid-19 measures with the guitarist were "inconclusive".

The Höhner declared that they therefore had no other choice.

The "Express" had previously reported on it.

The band also explained to the “Express”: “When Joost finally publicly acknowledged a Dutch right-wing populist and his party, the decision was made - after further long discussions - to go their separate ways in the future."

A detailed statement could be read on the unverified Facebook page of the Dutchman Vergoossen.

It stated that he had not been able to adequately defend his point of view.

"I am also not a corona denier or someone who wants to close the borders to refugees!" He was fired by phone.

His band mates would have assumed that he had the right ideas.

Vergoossen writes on Facebook that after he was kicked out, he asked for a personal interview in order to make it clear to the band that he was not a racist or a “virus refuser”.

However, that was rejected.

The band wanted to send his things, which he still had in Cologne, home to the Netherlands, said the guitarist.
