These are not easy times for Hollywood image makers.

There are hardly any parties, premieres and fashion shows, stars wear masks on the street and have to show off their red carpet look from the sofa at home.

Fashion is one of the most important means of self-presentation for actors and actresses, but how can this develop its effect if the platforms are missing?

This makes appearances in films and series, fashion campaigns, virtual film awards and on social media all the more important.

It shows: Despite the pandemic, celebrities, filmmakers, costume designers and stylists are making an effort to entertain their audiences with fashionable feats. After all, dresses help to tell a story or explain a protagonist, they can turn a newcomer into a star, or they can bring in an advertising deal with companies. The organizers of the 93rd Academy Awards, which will take place tomorrow, are also aware of its importance. In a letter sent by the Academy to all nominees, the dress code is clearly set out: “We are striving for a fusion of inspiring and solemn. Which means in other words: Formal is totally cool, for everyone who chooses it, but it is definitely not 'casual'. ”Hoodies and jeans will be worn at the event, that takes place in the context of several live events in different places, so rather not see. Hopefully looks that are optimistic and creative - like the eight winners of these fashion Oscars.

Fashion photos do not require an acting performance in the traditional sense, but the current Loewe campaign with “The Crown” star Josh O'Connor looks like the preview of a film that one would like to see.

Intoxicatingly colorful, adventurous and with a main actor whose quiet appearance also makes a great impact in a loud production.

The film "The Father" manages with few effects - like the dressing room of the main actress Olivia Colman.

During the drama, she almost exclusively wears a wide silk blouse that could still come from Phoebe Philo's “Old Céline” times.

The golden ear cuff, which drips from Colman's ears like honey, makes the look glow.

Because of “Sex and the City”, women in Manolo Blahniks stumbled across the asphalt, because of “Bridgerton” they tighten their waists again.

No series had as much fashion influence in the past year as the trendy costume spectacle that embellished the lockdown with empire waists, corsets and long gloves.

In the bitterly evil comedy “Promising Young Woman” Carey Mulligan looks like a Paris Hilton fan with a plush toy collection.

But rapunzel plaits, floral dresses and candy-colored nails are in truth weapons of a grieving young woman on a vengeance campaign against aggressive men - all of whom are of course fooled by the Barbie charm.
