If only heads of state could show the same kindness to their people as to their families.

Publicity

At the very moment when his victory in the last presidential election was proclaimed, Idriss Déby Itno, Marshal of Chad, wounded at the front, therefore died at the beginning of the week.

In view of the vibrant tributes paid to him yesterday, Friday, in Ndjamena, one wonders how opponents could have resented this man so much

One can wonder, in fact, and it is even imperative, for the heirs of the marshal, as for his opponents, the rebels, and even for the African heads of state, to meditate on this mystery: how can such a determined leader, such an exemplary husband, a father so loving, and so tender ... could he arouse so much rejection, so much hatred, on the part of his adversaries, some of whom have become enemies, who have ended up taking away from him life ?

The lesson for the opponents is that they may have challenged his power, in the streets and elsewhere, they lacked the decisive, determining mobilization to prevent the election.

And, when others kill the marshal, it is a third thief, his descendants, who seizes power.

Other peoples of the continent have already learned this the hard way.

What about the political family of the Marshal?

What a desappointment !

Listening to certain members of his party, unable, in such painful circumstances, to adopt the tone of reconciliation, one understands that they are unable to show how the Marshal actually loved all his people, and not just those who shared his vision.

Nothing but positioning speeches, laudatory and obsequious for the heir, and aggressive for the opposition, which indicates that they will not concede anything.

Perhaps the marshal alone was not the problem ...

Many speakers have said that he has given a lot to Africa

Undoubtedly!

And the Pan-Africanist label awarded to it yesterday by some heads of state is not usurped.

He won the respect of the peoples of the continent by flying to the aid of Mali in 2013. This country was in great danger when François Hollande and Idriss Déby deployed troops there and blocked the jihadists' road to Bamako.

Idriss Déby Itno had saved the honor of Africa at that time.

Because, without him, the operation would have been denounced as a colonial expedition.

There is no need to worship man to admit that without him the map of Africa might have changed, forever.

A great warrior, who dies at the front, isn't he, indeed, glorious?

Thirty years of waging war deserves more lucid reflection. Especially when we know that some of those who killed the Marshal were, not long ago, his companions or his collaborators, entered into dissidence. Quoting him, Emmanuel Macron underlined that the battles he fought have always had as a goal the defense of the integrity of the territory and the interests of Chad. Is ! But how not to wonder about what he did with his successive victorious wars! The vocation of the great soldier is also to find the means to end wars.

To the heir, consecrated, in fact, on the throne, to meditate on the interest in showing a little more regard for the political opposition, in order to demonetize these rebellions, often of clan inspiration, which have no plans for the Chadian people.

All of them dream, moreover, of taking control of this "manger", which is however increasingly empty.
