An employee who missed his job for 15 years and received $ 650,000 while at home

The Italian police have opened an investigation with an employee who continued to be absent from work for 15 years, while he was receiving his monthly salary periodically.

The Italian press described the 67-year-old man as "the king of absentees," while he faces charges related to abuse of position, fraud and extortion.

According to the "Guardian" newspaper, the police are investigating six managers who were involved in facilitating the employee's absence from his work.

The total amount that the man received was about $ 648,000, despite not having come to work since 2005, according to the Paulian Sciaccio Hospital in the city of Catanzaro in the Calabria region, where he worked.

The investigation indicates that in 2005, there were allegations that the employee had threatened the hospital director, forcing her not to file a disciplinary report for his absence from work.

The employee's absence continued after the manager's retirement, because the next manager did not verify his presence, according to police statements.
