Among the initially confirmed cases, one more case was locally infected. The patient was found to have the variant virus N501Y, which is the third locally infected case with the variant virus.

  The 9 newly confirmed cases involved 1 female and 8 males, aged between 4 and 58 years old, of which 8 were imported cases, including 3 cases with the variant virus N501Y, and one local case.

  Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health, said that among the initial confirmed cases earlier, one involved a Filipino domestic helper who arrived in Hong Kong on March 27. She was in the West from March 27 to April 16. The Ramada Hotel in Yingpan was quarantined and then moved to the employer's house at No. 8 Kennedy Road.

At present, the preliminary test results of this case show that she has the variant virus N501Y. This is the third locally infected case with the variant virus.

  Zhang Zhujun said that after checking the records of the Ramada Hotel where she lived earlier, the Health Protection Center found that she had lived in a family of 3 in the room next to her, who was diagnosed earlier, and 2 of them were found to have the variant virus N501Y.

For the sake of prudence, the Health Protection Center will allow people living on the same floor to undergo compulsory quarantine for a period of time, and will discuss the incident with experts whether further investigation is needed.

  In addition, at the epidemic briefing on the 23rd, the Center for Health Protection announced that there were 30 initially confirmed cases, all of which were from the same laboratory, BGI, and considered the situation to be unusual.

Afterwards, the Department of Health and experts visited the scene and launched an investigation.

  Zhang Zhujun said that of the 30 people who were judged to be initially diagnosed, 2 were diagnosed and all were imported cases. Of the remaining 28 cases, 27 were tested by the Hospital Authority (HA) with preliminary results negative and antibodies. The test result was also negative, and there was no result in 1 case.

Zhang Zhujun said that if the above-mentioned patients have been tested negative for two consecutive times and the antibody test results are negative, they will be arranged to be discharged from the hospital one after another.

  Yu Huiling, Chief Administrative Manager (Medical Effectiveness and Technology Management) of the Hospital Authority, announced that as of 9 am, 9 more confirmed patients have recovered and discharged in the past 24 hours. So far, a total of 11,324 confirmed patients have recovered and discharged, and there are still 154 patients in hospital. , 3 of them are in critical condition, 2 are in serious condition, and the rest are in stable condition.
