In the early morning of April 23, in order to raise the public’s awareness of preventing terrorist attacks and beware of the resurgence of terrorism in Hong Kong, the inter-departmental counter-terrorism task force of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Police conducted a counter-terrorism exercise at Hong Kong International Airport. A total of about 200 people participated in the exercise, including police , Fire Services, Correctional Services Department, Customs, Immigration Department and Special Administrative Region Government Flight Service.

The exercise was conducted in two parts. The first part simulates the discovery of a suspicious object in the airport passenger terminal, and the second part simulates a terrorist organization killing a passerby, taking hostages and attempting to carry out a bomb attack in the passenger terminal.
