A way for VTCs and delivery people to "make their demands and their voices heard".

Government spokesman Gabriel Attal announced on Wednesday that elections for staff representatives in these sectors will take place "no later than December 31, 2022".

These are the first professional elections for food and shopping deliverers, and for VTC drivers.

This decision stemming from an ordinance, presented by the Minister of Labor Elisabeth Borne during the Council of Ministers, "significantly rebalances the working relations between the platforms and the workers", continued Gabriel Attal at the end of the Council.

“Although independent workers, their representation will be ensured on platforms, they will be able to make their demands and their voices heard,” he said.

"It is a step which will be followed by others"

The decision comes a month after the presentation of a report commissioned by the government to a former HRD of Orange, Bruno Mettling, a freelance worker, Pauline Trequesser, and a former senior official, Mathias Dufour. They recommended in particular to focus on the platforms of VTC drivers or delivery men, "where the deficit of rights and protection is the most glaring", by advocating elections by sector of activity, with representatives for the drivers, and 'others for delivery people.

The mission also suggested organizing a ballot open to all platform workers who had at least three months of turnover over the last six months.

Their report was particularly welcomed by the CFDT.

"This is an important step for the labor market of the 21st century, it is a step which will be followed by others, in particular on the organization of collective bargaining in the sector", assured the government spokesman on Wednesday. .
