China News Service, Haikou, April 21 (Reporter Zhang Qianyi) The Hainan Provincial Health Commission reported on the 21st that the crew of the Panamanian cargo ship previously notified had confirmed 12 cases of new coronary pneumonia.

On April 18, Sanya City, Hainan Province, reported 4 confirmed cases of imported new coronary pneumonia, all of which were crew members of a Panamanian cargo ship.

In order to do a good job in the investigation of the other 16 crew members who were in close contact with the freighter, considering the docking conditions of the port, the freighter sailed to Hainan Yangpu Port and arrived at Yangpu Port on April 19.

Haikou Customs conducts boarding quarantine in accordance with regulations and collects specimens from 16 crew members for laboratory testing.

After testing, 12 crew members were positive for the new coronavirus nucleic acid, and 4 crew members were negative for the new coronavirus nucleic acid (of which one crew member was positive for IgM and IgG antibodies).

Hainan Province arranged negative pressure ambulances to transfer the crew to designated hospitals, perfected related inspections, and closed-loop management throughout the entire process.

After consultation with the expert group, comprehensive clinical symptoms, epidemiological history and laboratory test results, 12 patients were diagnosed as confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia.

At present, the designated hospitals are fully treating patients.

Four close contacts are being quarantined for medical observation.

At the same time, the ship and related environment have been terminally disinfected.
