The Afghan student Samiullah Sher Hussain (17 years old) underwent a kidney transplant from a deceased donor, as part of the “Donate Your Life” campaign, launched by the Emirates Today newspaper, in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, at Al Jalila Hospital in Dubai, to restore his life, which was about to end, after reaching the stage of complete kidney failure.

The Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital in Dubai stated that the patient, who had suffered since his birth, had kidney complications, due to inherited genetic factors, had finally entered the most difficult stage, which made him on the waiting lists for kidney transplantation.

The student (Sami Allah) said to “Emirates Today”: “He had to completely stop his studies two years ago, after his health condition worsened due to complications from kidney disease, which had accompanied it since birth, specifically after entering the dialysis stage, where he was unable to Correspondence between receiving treatment and continuing to study ».

He continued: "The disease has become a nightmare that I live every day, and I cannot dream of a bright future like the rest of my colleagues, knowing that my days in life are numbered, after my health condition developed and entered the most difficult stage."

He added, "My dream is to become a construction engineer, and to return to playing football, which I have been deprived of due to my health condition."

He thanked the bodies responsible for the initiative "Your donation is a life", which restored hope to him for a better tomorrow, stressing that the UAE is a country of benevolence, giving and humanity, whose white hands have reached the ends and the lowest of the earth.

A consultant transplant surgeon, head of the organ transplantation center at Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital, Aldo Concepcion, said, “The kidney transplant operation was successfully performed for Sami Allah, and he is currently under medical supervision and follow-up until his condition is completely stabilized.”

He continued, "Sami Allah suffers from a genetic disease that led to kidney failure at an early age, which imposed the necessity of conducting a kidney transplant as a sole solution to save his life."

He said, "The operation lasted five continuous hours, preceded by a stage of preparation and examinations, and followed by a period of up to three weeks inside the hospital for medical care and follow-up."

"The patient will undergo lifelong immunosuppressive drugs, as an internationally approved treatment protocol for organ transplantation," said Dr. Eva Simkova, consultant pediatric nephrologist at Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital.

It is noteworthy that the younger brother of (Sami Allah - 4 years) suffers from kidney failure as well, and he is on the waiting list to undergo a kidney transplant like his brother.
