A film which investigates the media and controversial Marseille microbiology professor, and for which its director, the journalist Manon Bachelot, had to confront the omerta that surrounds Didier Raoult.

He is interested in the infectious disease specialist, a highly publicized and very controversial doctor.

This survey looks back on his career, on the management of his university hospital institute in Marseille, on his political support and on his scientific methods, discussed since the start of the Covid-19 health crisis.

Cyberbullying by fans and loved ones

And everything that surrounds Didier Raoult constitutes a very sensitive subject, as Manon Bachelot, journalist and director of the documentary, was able to realize.

"I discovered controversial scientific methods, but above all cyberstalking and death threats on social networks towards those who criticize Professor Raoult's methods," she reveals at the microphone of Europe 1.

"These people are not attacked by Didier Raoult, but by fans of the professor", distinguishes Manon Bachelot.

"They attack doctors and scientists who contradict the professor's methods. Among these people who attack on social networks, there is a professor from the university hospital institute headed by Didier Raoult: Eric Chabrière."

The fear of "professional reprisals"

The identity of this doctor is one of the elements revealed by this investigation, which was not easy to carry out.

Many people have indeed refused to speak to Manon Bachelot, who came up against what she calls "the omerta" which reigns around Didier Raoult.

"Very few witnesses agreed to answer me in front of the camera," regrets the journalist.

"Didier Raoult is a very influential person in the research community in France. By speaking out, scientists and researchers fear in particular professional reprisals."

"There is also a very important internal omerta", adds Manon Bachelot.

"At the university hospital institute, Didier Raoult has practices that are part of the culture of fear. Many employees did not want to answer my questions, they were even afraid to speak to me by phone. They did not want to answer my questions. speak, even anonymously, for fear of being recognized. " 

Didier Raoult does not express himself in this survey: he only accepts live interviews.
