The film world's big party, the Oscars, is fast approaching.

One of the gala's most desirable awards is for the best direction.

No Swedes are nominated, but the Danish director Thomas Vinterberg for his film Druk, or En runda till, as it is called in Swedish.

Most of all, however, is that two women are nominated in the directing category.

- It has never happened that there are two women in the same year.

Since the birth of Oscar, 93 years ago, seven women have been nominated for directing and two of the seven are this year.

The women nominated this year are Chloé Zhao for Nomadland and Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman.

Only one woman has won the directing category before: Kathryn Bigelow for The hurt locker.

This year's Oscar Gala kicks off on Monday night.
