AnnaLynne McCord has dissociative identity disorder, more commonly known as multiple personality disorder.

It was following a particularly difficult role played by the star of

90210 Beverly Hills: Next Generation

 that doctors made their diagnosis.

“I only understood what I had when I filmed a side project of

90210 Beverly Hills: Next Generation

[in the 2012 horror film

Excision

].

I was playing a strange, disturbed, very cerebral girl who was very close to how I feel inside.

It was very revealing, a real challenge to face, which probably plunged me back a little into the traumas but without understanding it.

The crazy thing is, I finished the shoot on a Tuesday at 2 a.m. and Wednesday at noon I had to be the happy and horny blonde Beverly Hills hottie.

I couldn't find her, she wasn't accessible.

I was sinister, always in the character of Pauline from which I could not get out, ”she confided to psychiatrist Daniel Amen, who follows her.

Little Anna

During her treatment, the actress had to go back to her past, which she only partially remembered.

An amnesia caused by "sexual abuse during childhood" which returned to her while she was being "treated for a symptom of post-traumatic stress".

If some patients have no awareness of their other personalities, this is not the case with AnnaLynne McCord, notes the psychiatrist.

She mentioned in particular "little Anna" when she was 13 years old.

“She was a nasty little creature, but I have a lot of gratitude for her because she pulled me out of the hell I was in,” added AnnaLynne McCord.

Speaking openly about her dissociative identity disorder is, for the actress, a way to fight the stigma about mental illness.

“Shame doesn't interest me at all.

There is nothing in my path that leaves room for shame.

And that's how you get to the point where you can structure the nature of these ubiquitous traumas, horrible as they are, ”added the
