[Rural Revitalization] Xinjiang Qiemo 65,000 acres of Cistanche has a good harvest

[Explanation] At present, farmers in Qiemo County of Xinjiang Bayingoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture (hereinafter referred to as "Bazhou") are busy harvesting Cistanche.

Cistanche cistanche, commonly known as Dayun, is a parasitic plant on the roots of Haloxylon ammodendron. It has extremely high medicinal value and is known as the "desert ginseng".

At present, the area of artificially inoculated cistanche in Qiemo County has reached 65,000 mu, making it the largest cistanche planting base in southern Xinjiang, and its products are sold at home and abroad.

Qiemo County is located in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert. Two-thirds of the county's area is desertified land. The county seat is surrounded by sand on all sides, like a "desert island", and the ecological environment is extremely fragile.

Over the years, in the practice of sand prevention and control, the people of Qiemo have actively explored the development of eco-economic industries, inoculating Cistanche under the Haloxylon forests, and have embarked on the path of sustainable development of the "ecological industry with ecological engineering".

Tian Laiqun is an experienced Cistanche grower.

In 2017, he tried to interplant Cistanche in the Haloxylon forest. The economic benefits brought by Cistanche gave him the prospect of benefiting from the desert. After several years of exploration, the area of Cistanche interplanted in the field has reached 2,000 mu.

At present, he has harvested more than 30 tons of fresh Cistanche.

[Concurrent period] Cistanche cistanche plantation in Qiemo County, Xinjiang

In 2017, I came to Qiemo and saw the locals planting trees to prevent wind and sand fixation. I also joined their team. I started planting Haloxylon ammodendron forests in Qiemo, planting windbreak and sand fixing forests, and at the same time planting Dayun, here Various difficulties were also encountered in the process.

[Explanation] After years of practice, Qiemo County has successfully explored the industrialized desert control mode of inoculating Cistanche on the roots of Haloxylon ammodendron.

At the same time, Qiemo County is actively integrating desertification control with economic development, and adjusting and optimizing the agricultural structure to make the cultivation of Cistanche more intelligent and technological.

[Concurrent] Abbas Aisa, Head of Wind and Sand Control Work Station, Qiemo County, Bazhou, Xinjiang

The wind and sand in Qiemo County are relatively heavy when the spring begins. One of the most troublesome thing is to blow this pipe to other places after the wind blows. They (cistanche) often can’t eat the water and let the vegetation die. Later we discovered in the groping, we I use a vegetation needle made of iron wire to fix this pipe in the middle of the desert, so that our vegetation and Dayun can all eat water.

[Explanation] The bumper harvest of Cistanche has brought good economic benefits to the ecological desertification control work in Qimo, and also solved the bottleneck of the high cost of ecological desertification control.

This year we have planted 65,000 acres of big Yun. It is estimated that we may reach about 1,400 tons of fresh big Yun this spring and autumn. More than 5,000 farmers will benefit from this.

[Explanation] Currently, Qiemo County is actively exploring the development of desert planting, ecological tourism, ecological breeding, tourism, leisure and other industries through various business methods such as investment promotion, joint-stock operation, and the development of rural collective economy.

Through the continuous expansion of the development channels of the sand industry, we have embarked on a sustainable development path of "Ecological Industry Cultivation Ecological Project".
