The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kajiyama has decided to dilute the ever-increasing amount of treated water at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station of Tokyo Electric Power Company to a concentration below the national standard and release it into the sea. We met with the Director and requested cooperation to dispel international concerns.

Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kajiyama met with IAEA Secretary-General Grossi today at a video conference.



In this, Minister Kajiyama said, "In the basic policy formulated by the government, we will thoroughly disclose information with the cooperation of the IAEA and make efforts to eliminate the damage caused by rumors." We requested cooperation to dispel international concerns through verification and information dissemination.

In response, Secretary-General Grossi said, "Of course, we will actively accept cooperation. I think that many people in Japan and overseas appreciate this decision."



At the meeting, after confirming the policy of accelerating preparations in closer cooperation, the IAEA will aim to dispatch a research team to Japan by this summer at the request of Japan.



Among them, the IAEA will verify and give advice on the status of TEPCO's examination of specific disposal methods.
