China News Service, Hong Kong, April 14th. Title: Interview with Junyao He: Although Hong Kong’s national security education has just started, it has a good start.

China News Agency reporter Wang Jiacheng Suo Youwei

"Articles 9 and 10 of the Hong Kong National Security Law refer to the need to strengthen the promotion of national security education in schools, networks, social organizations, and the media. Each of us in Hong Kong should establish national security awareness and at the same time help Promote related education work." He Junyao, a member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency a few days ago.

In December 2020, He Junyao announced the establishment of Hong Kong's first "National Security Education Center" (center) with the "International Public Welfare Legal Services Association".

Carry out national security education through schools, social organizations, etc., organize relevant training activities and invite experts to compile textbooks on national security education.

He Junyao told reporters that about two years ago, he took the lead in establishing the charity organization "International Public Welfare Legal Services Association."

The association originally hoped to encourage the legal profession to serve the community and provide citizens with free and professional legal services. Unfortunately, many development plans were forced to suspend due to the "regulations" that occurred in 2019.

"The Fugitive Offenders Ordinance is not unique to Hong Kong, and Hong Kong has returned to the motherland for 23 years. It is only natural to repair the loopholes in the relevant mechanism." Recalling the beginning of the "Regulations Amendment", he became excited: "Someone maliciously spread falsehoods in Hong Kong. The news has caused some people in Hong Kong to misunderstand the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance and oppose the passage of the Ordinance. Many of the contents are completely fabricated facts and rumors."

He Junyao believes that Hong Kong invests a lot of money in education every year, hoping to nurture students and educate young people to be sensible and have an international perspective.

But in fact, there are many young people who believe in rumors credulously and are blinded by distorted facts, and because of this, they embark on the road of illegal crimes and even endangering national security.

In his opinion, in the second half of 2019, Hong Kong has become a society where black-clad thugs are rampant, and people's livelihood and economy have been hit hard.

However, Hong Kong has "suddenly become the focus of the world." Many Western countries have made complaints about Hong Kong affairs. The United States even claimed that the riot was a so-called "beautiful landscape."

"It wasn't until the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law that the society gradually changed from chaos and governance." He Junyao said.

Although society has basically returned to calm, what worries He Junyao is that the turmoil made people see that a large number of young people in Hong Kong, especially the students who are still growing up, have been "poisoned".

Because of the "ideological poison" cast by people with ulterior motives, in 2019, so many young people who believe in "violating the law and justice" will run to the streets, unscrupulously throwing bricks, smashing shops, etc., constantly testing the bottom line of the law.

"So, it is very important to promote national security education." He Junyao emphasized.

Regarding the newly established center, He Junyao described it as a "pioneering pioneer".

In the months since the center was announced, several seminars have been held.

Among them, at the school education seminar, participants specifically discussed the content and basic framework that Hong Kong’s local curriculum including kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools should pay attention to, and communicated with the Education Bureau on this.

A few days ago, after the "Human Rights Watch" released the World Human Rights Report, the center held a press conference on the false content of the report concerning the human rights situation in the Mainland and Hong Kong, and took the initiative to write to the United Nations Secretariat in this regard, detailing the actual situation in the Mainland and Hong Kong. , In order to see and hear.

On the 15th, Hong Kong will usher in the first "National Security Education Day" after the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law.

It is understood that the center will arrange a mobile exhibition vehicle to visit the school to introduce the "general national security concept" proposed by President Xi Jinping.

Looking to the future, the center still has a lot of long-term work to do, including promoting the legislative work of Article 23 of the Hong Kong Basic Law.

"Hong Kong's national security education has just started, but it has already had a good start." He said.
