96.8% of fresh graduates surveyed expect more support in job search

The interviewed fresh graduates are most looking forward to providing more jobs and improving social security for flexible employment

The annual "Golden Three and Silver Four" is the peak period of job recruitment.

There are 9.09 million college graduates this year, a new high.

At the same time, the new crown pneumonia epidemic has caused more overseas students to choose to return to China to find work.

According to statistics from the job search platform, in 2020, the number of returnees who submitted resumes to domestic positions increased by 33.9% compared with 2019.

How is the current job search progress for this year's fresh graduates?

What support do they expect in their job search?

Recently, the Social Survey Center of China Youth Daily conducted a survey of 1,690 fresh graduates through the questionnaire network (wenjuan.com), which showed that 96.8% of the interviewed fresh graduates expected more support in job hunting.

Providing more jobs for fresh graduates (54.1%) and improving social security for flexible employees (52.8%) are the most anticipated employment help for fresh graduates interviewed.

Among the fresh graduates interviewed, college students accounted for 12.1%, undergraduates accounted for 77.5%, and graduate students accounted for 9.7%.

61.2% of fresh graduates interviewed frankly said that the two graduates and the tide of overseas returnees are superimposed, and there is great competition for candidates.

Li Yun (pseudonym), a fresh-year property management student of Yunnan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational Technical College, has signed a tripartite agreement with a company and is currently undergoing a pre-employment internship.

Li Yun told reporters that the school closed in November last year, and most of the students who were looking for a job participated in the school recruitment.

Some students got the admission notice or found internship opportunities through school recruitment, and some students chose to upgrade to a bachelor's degree.

Michael Coco (pseudonym), a graduate of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, is currently preparing to take the entrance examination of a local institution of higher learning. Her ideal job is to be a counselor in a university. She feels that she has an affinity for her personality and is suitable for such a job.

Yuan Zixuan (pseudonym), a 2021 undergraduate of Business Administration majoring in Southwest University, is currently seeking a job. He did not participate in the autumn recruitment because of the postgraduate entrance examination.

Since the winter vacation, Yuan Zixuan has been in the internship post of the delivery company. After returning to school this semester, he has also participated in interviews with some companies.

In the survey, 11.2% of the fresh graduates interviewed have already found a job and signed a tripartite agreement, 22.4% of the fresh graduates interviewed have found a job and are still looking for other job opportunities, and 55.5% of the fresh graduates interviewed are in the process of applying for a job.

In addition, 9.4% of the freshmen surveyed are preparing for further studies, and 1.2% of the freshmen surveyed are starting their own businesses.

Yuan Zixuan said frankly that students like himself who did not participate in the autumn recruitment will face greater challenges in the spring recruitment, "because they did not participate in the autumn recruitment, the previous internship experience was relatively small, and the interview session was not very dominant, so there was no I have received too many positive feedbacks. In addition, I am a native of Chongqing and want to stay and work in the Sichuan-Chongqing area, but seeing that most of the companies in my favorite area are full, I feel that there are fewer jobs than autumn recruitment."

In the survey, 61.2% of the fresh graduates interviewed said that they encountered two graduates and overseas returnees in their job search, and the competition was high. 56.4% of the fresh graduates interviewed felt that there was a lack of internship experience and social experience, 46.9% Of the fresh graduates interviewed feel that there is little demand for recruitment and there are limited positions for fresh graduates.

Other problems encountered are: scattered recruitment information on various platforms, difficult to collect (38.6%), difficulty in remuneration and benefits (34.1%), employment discrimination in gender, education, etc. (31.6%), and the online job search process is relatively slow. Cumbersome (24.5%) and so on.

"In the past two years, fresh graduates will be affected by the epidemic in their job search. This year's fresh graduates will also face the situation of applying for a job with students who were not employed last year. However, those with strong abilities and adequate job preparation can still stand out. "Liu Li (pseudonym), an undergraduate counselor at a university in Beijing, believes that fresh graduates should prepare early for job hunting and cannot wait until the graduation grade to consider. "First determine a few favorite industries, and then do more internships to make yourself more intuitive. It’s hard to get an answer if you don’t think about anything a few years ago and wait until you graduate to consider what career is right for you. It’s easier to get passive in the process of job hunting."

"I have observed that in the process of job hunting for fresh graduates in previous years, those students who successfully got a job or got many opportunities are usually more active and proactive on campus. On the contrary, those students who do not actively participate in activities and do not have outstanding skills are more It’s easy to become a'employment-difficulty household'." Liu Li found that willing students start planning their careers in their sophomore year, but some students sleep in their dormitories when others are trying to find internships, participate in scientific research or social practice. Feeling, she feels that this state of "freezing herself" is not conducive to future job hunting.

54.1% of fresh graduates surveyed hope to have more positions for fresh graduates

"I feel that the impact of the epidemic this year is still there, but my job search process is still smooth, and I feel that the opportunities for fresh graduates are relatively sufficient." Li Yun believes that for fresh graduates, they need to adapt to the transition from campus to workplace. A job is not easy, and it is also difficult to achieve 100% satisfaction."

Yuan Zixuan feels that if the company can more fully introduce job information and work status to job applicants in the recruitment process, it will help fresh graduates to apply for a job. "For example, I did not participate in many internships in the early stage. The content is not fully understood, so I am not sure whether I am suitable."

Liu Yu, a 2020 graduate of a university in Beijing, feels that online job hunting has developed rapidly in recent years, and there are also many online job hunting platforms. For fresh graduates who do not have much experience, it is difficult to distinguish the authenticity of information.

"If there is a more authoritative platform, it can be more convenient for job seekers. At the same time, the school should also help students identify positions more."

In the survey, 96.8% of the fresh graduates interviewed expect more support in job hunting.

Interactive analysis found that the proportion of undergraduates expecting more support is higher (97.1%).

What kind of support is needed?

Providing more jobs for fresh graduates (54.1%), improving social security for flexible employees (52.8%), and consolidating recruitment information in a unified and convenient way (50.8%) are the top three in the selection rate.

"I feel that the current school is doing a good job in matching employment opportunities. If we go further, the school can establish a tracking mechanism for fresh graduates' employment." Yuan Zixuan said that some fresh graduates did not understand the company when they were looking for a job. Many. After I arrived at the job, I found that the situation was different from the previous job application. However, I have left school at this time, and I often can’t get the corresponding support and help. If the school can establish a certain time-sensitive tracking period for the current students, it can be changed. Get a good understanding of the employment situation of students after signing the contract.

Other aspects of support that the interviewed graduating students expect are: schools organize recruitment presentations, expand job search channels (43.4%), check recruiting companies, avoid job hunting traps (39.6%), carry out interview experience sharing (35.6%), and strengthen cooperation with Grassroots talent support and docking (27.2%), simplified employment procedures (26.6%), provided vocational skills training (25.9%), optimized the online job search process (25.2%), provided job market analysis (22.6%) and provided job opportunities Provide assistance to students in difficulties (22.0%).

Liu Li feels that after experiencing the epidemic, the employment guidance work of colleges and universities will also start the career planning and guidance of students earlier. "By the graduation season, students will spend more time and energy on finding a job, although at this time The school will also arrange job-hunting skills and experience sharing, but if you want to be fully prepared to "go on the battlefield", the accumulated reserves in the previous years are indispensable. Students should be aware of the importance of internships and plan their career development as soon as possible. When you are really looking for a job, you can deal with it more calmly."
