In Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture, a tourist facility where you can enjoy seasonal flowers has decided to close due to a decrease in the number of visitors due to the new coronavirus, ending the 44-year history.

Closed on May 31st

Opened in 1977, "Tateyama Family Park" is one of the leading tourist facilities in Chiba prefecture, where about 100,000 people visit every year, including the 1 million poppies that begin to bloom in December every year until the Golden Week holidays in May.

At the facility, the flowers that had been grown due to the typhoon and heavy rain in 2019 were severely damaged, and the park was closed for about two months, but we were able to reopen it by replanting the flowers.

However, two emergency declarations last year and this year due to the spread of the new corona have forced us to close the park and shorten business hours again, and the number of visitors last year decreased by 42% from the previous year.

The facility still did not see the convergence of the corona and decided that it would be difficult to continue operating, so it was decided to close the park on May 31, ending the 44-year history.

President Naganaga Uejo of Tateyama Family Park said, "We have recovered from the damage caused by the typhoon, but after that, the corona did not converge and we decided to close the park. Until the day, one million poppy flowers will bloom in a beautiful state. "
