"If you had a last minute on the big stage of drama when the theater reopens, what would you choose to perform then?"

This question was asked by Dramaten's theater director Mattias Andersson to the theater's ensemble of almost 70 actors.

Based on their answers, Andersson, together with choreographer Tove Sahlin and costume designer Ulla Kassius, has now created the set The Last Minute.

The hope is that the entire Dramaten ensemble will simultaneously be on the Big Stage at the world premiere later this autumn.

- The starting point was the pandemic and the closed theater, to dig where we stand and build in the present, Mattias Andersson writes in a press release.

A press release about the show states:

"The Last Minute becomes an associative, pluralistic, musical, choreographic, hyperindividualistic but at the same time collectivist performance that tries to capture a 'now' in a number of ultimate scenic minutes."

Depending on current conditions

Work on the performing arts began as early as January, and more intensive rehearsals will begin in the spring in smaller constellations in places such as parks and football pitches.

However, the work of art will be completely dependent on the restrictions and recommendations that will be in place this autumn.

Mattias Andersson took over as theater director for the Royal Drama in March 2020 and The Last Minute will be his first own production as theater director.

Should everything go as planned, the show is expected to be played on selected weekends during the autumn.
