China News Service, Shijiazhuang, April 13 (Zhao Danmei) "During the rainy season, you must not allow water to wash the tombstone, nor allow weeds to grow around the tomb of the martyrs." Watering the newly planted cypress trees in front of the tomb of Martyr Du Bohua, the former Deputy Minister of Health of the Jinchaji Military Region in the village.

On a mountainside in Huikou Village, Pingshan County, Hebei Province, 20 kilometers away from Xibaipo, the sacred site of the Chinese Revolution, stands the tombstone of Du Bohua, the former Deputy Minister of Health of the Jinchaji Military Region.

According to reports, in 1941, Du Bohua, then Deputy Minister of Health of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region, died accidentally because of a trial of a new drug.

"These cypress trees were newly planted by me to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Martyr Du Bohua's sacrifice." Gao Wenyuan, who had been responsible for guarding the tomb of Martyr Du Bohua for more than 40 years, said that he had heard old people tell stories about Martyr Du Bohua's treatment in the village.

"He taught the people how to use a mushroom to stop bleeding and how to treat mumps with soil methods."

Talking about the reasons for the voluntary guarding of the tomb over the years, Gao Wenyuan said that he is a veteran, and guarding the tomb of the martyrs is what he should do.

He said that his family was happy and happy, and the martyrs gave their lives for the country, "these heroes and martyrs must not be forgotten in society."

In 2018, Pingshan County organized hundreds of villages across the county to write village exams, requiring celebrities and red history to be recorded.

When Gao Wenyuan was involved in this work, he thought that the tomb of Martyrs Du Bohua had not been cleaned by relatives for many years, and it might be that his relatives had found the wrong place.

Thinking that the martyrs were sacrificed in a foreign country and could not return to their homeland, he had the idea of finding relatives for the martyrs.

Gao Wenyuan learned from the epitaph that Martyr Du Bohua was a native of Yushu County, Jilin Province. The round trip between Pingshan, Hebei and Yushu, Jilin is about 3,000 kilometers.

In order to make up for the travel expenses, Gao Wenyuan decided to quit smoking for many years.

"I have no right to move the tombstone of the martyrs, so I carved a miniature tombstone and wrapped a handful of earth in red silk to find relatives for the martyrs." In March 2018, before dawn, Gao Wenyuan did not dare to make peace. The wife said, and set off quietly.

Gao Wenyuan recalled that he deliberately took the miniature tombstones of Martyrs Du Bohua to see the monument in Xibaipo, the holy place of revolution, and to see Tiananmen Square in the capital of Beijing.

"I hope Martyrs Du Bohua can see that the goal they fought for has been achieved."

Due to a long history and unknown historical records, Gao Wenyuan finally found the 87-year-old niece of Martyr Du Bohua in Xiabao Village, Jilin Province, lasting more than half a month.

"This is also my spiritual comfort." Gao Wenyuan said, finally fulfilling his wish to find relatives for the martyrs.

Soon, the descendants of Martyr Du Bohua came to Huikou Village, Hebei Province to pay homage to the tomb of the martyrs.

"There must be people who don't understand my practice of finding relatives for the martyrs, but I don't care." Gao Wenyuan planted a keel tree in his yard. He said that this means that people must be upright, have integrity, and have determination.

In the future, in addition to continuing to protect the tombstones of Martyrs Du Bohua, Gao Wenyuan plans to build a tombstone around him to express his gratitude for the other sacrificed martyrs in the village.
