How can you kill a horse in the middle of a field on a beautiful Easter Sunday?

And above all why?

These questions have been tormenting the small village of Mauran 70 kilometers southwest of Toulouse since April 4 and the discovery of a dying beast, wounded by a shot in the flank, in a meadow in the town.

The horse did not survive.

The village of Mauran has 224 inhabitants.

"After hearing a gunshot at around 5 p.m., a cyclist saw a man, graying and dressed in what looked like overalls, with a broken rifle in his hand,"

Nicolas Rostaing

told

, the mayor of the small isolated town between the Garonne and the Pyrenees, usually "quiet".

An investigation opened by the gendarmes

The city councilor ensures that concern has hovered since this unexplained killing.

There was no disagreement between the owner of the horse, a resident of the town, and the owner of the meadow where the animal had recently been grazing.

"It can't be a hunter or a stray bullet, a hunter wouldn't do that and the hunt is closed."

For me, this horse was not struck by chance, ”continues Nicolas Rostaing.

So, an act of an imbalance, revenge, a new episode in the case of the mutilation of equines?

In the absence of a response, the mayor and his constituents are worried about the other animals in the town.

They also say that the man in blue can only have arrived by car and "that he could meet people on the departmental".

Then Nicolas Rostaing calls any witnesses to come forward.

At the town hall (on 05 61 98 81 41) or with the gendarmes of Cazères (on 05 61 97 00 17) who have opened an investigation.
