Sunday evening the Baftas ceremony took place, by videoconference, coronavirus requires.

A French film was awarded: the one directed by Florian Zeller, "The Father".

This film is adapted from a play he wrote himself.

The director explained, moved, that it had been an "honor to work" in the United Kingdom which he described as "the motherland of the theater".

has already won two awards in the UK on Sunday night at the Baftas ceremony.

The English Caesars thus awarded the prizes for best actor for Anthony Hopkins and for best adapted screenplay for Florian Zeller.

"Thank you very much for this magnificent prize", breaths moved, Florian Zeller in costume behind the camera of his computer.

"It has been truly an honor to work in your country which is truly the home of the theater," he continues.

Because his film,

The Father,

is the adaptation of the play that he himself directed.

"A British film"

Florian Zeller is now touring festivals with this film, which for him is above all "a British film".

It tells the interior trajectory of an 81-year-old man, played by Anthony Hopkins.

In parallel, we also follow the story of his daughter Anne, camped by Olivia Colman, who tries to support her father in this crossing.

In front of the empty room of Baftas, Florian Zeller wishes to thank the country in which he shot the film.

"I am French as you can hear it, but in my heart I am English and I feel it even more today thanks to you", he affirms.

The ceremony was also marked by the triumph of the film Nomadland.

He won four awards: best director (Chloé Zhao), best film, best actress (American Frances McDormand) and best photography.
