Famous fans and friends have paid tribute to DMX since Friday.

The hip-hop singer died in hospital in White Plains, New York.

Plunged into a coma for a week following a heart attack, the interpreter of

X Gon 'Give It to Ya

died at the age of 50.

Missy Elliott paid tribute to the artist, evoking his talent and also his fight against his addictions.

“Even when you struggled you touched so many people through your music and when you prayed so many people felt it!

It's heavy on the hip-hop family, but your legacy and spirit will endure.

I continue to pray that family and friends at DMX find strength and healing, ”she wrote on Twitter.

Rapper Ludacris also recalled the good times they had together.

“The impact this man has had on culture is unprecedented.

I have so many great stories from the times I spent with DMX and I will truly treasure them for the rest of my life.

One of the most genuine and passionate human beings with whom I have had the pleasure of sharing time and energy, ”he shared on Instagram.

Chance The Rapper also sent condolences, as did Ciara, who remembered the talent of DMX on stage.

Ice-T, who shared a passion for music and the 7th art with him, posted a sample of DMX concert on Twitter, adding that "very few people will do things like you, mate."
