Foods that contribute to acid reflux

Many suffer from acid reflux, which occurs when stomach contents ascend into the esophagus, after the lower sphincter has relaxed.

Numerous factors play a role in increasing acid reflux, including the position of the body after eating, and the quantity and quality of foods. Here is a list of foods and drinks that increase acid reflux, according to "Sky News".

1- Fatty and fried foods: High-fat foods put pressure on the lower esophageal muscle, delay gastric emptying, and increase the likelihood of reflux.

2- Spicy foods: Doctors confirm that regular exposure to capsaicin, the compound that makes pepper taste hot, may improve acid reflux.

3- Fruits and vegetables: The list of fruits and vegetables that doctors advise to avoid for those who suffer from reflux include citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruit, lemons, tomatoes, garlic and onions.

4- Drinks: such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, orange juice and lemon.
