Germany's largest tabloid "Bild" is planning its own television station.

The media group Axel Springer (to which WELT also belongs) announced on Monday in Berlin that the station should be receivable under the BILD brand via cable and satellite, among other things, before the federal elections in autumn.

The start of broadcasting is still subject to the Berlin-Brandenburg State Media Authority (MABB) granting a broadcast license.

The core is a live program starting in the morning with news and current topics for up to six hours a day.

It should be supplemented with documentaries, reports and other formats, with the focus on politics, sport, VIP, crime and service topics.

“Bild” editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt said: “We want to make television that does not teach people, but rather shows what is.

That gives people a voice and speaks to them from the soul. ”500“ Bild ”reporters across the country would“ tell the audience what is happening, but also listen to them and let them have their say wherever they are concerned ”.

BILD will be produced from a new TV unit in WeltN24 GmbH, in which Axel Springer will in future bundle television activities for WELT, BILD and N24 Doku.

This unit provides, among other things, the technical broadcasting operations and broadcasting planning, distribution and the purchase of programs for license formats.

The content for the live series comes from the "Bild" editorial team.

The responsible managing directors of WeltN24 GmbH are Frank Hoffmann, chairman of the TV unit, and Claus Strunz, who in this function will also be the program manager of the broadcaster BILD.

Hoffmann said: “With WELT, BILD and N24 Doku, Axel Springer is creating a family of channels with extensive know-how for the increasingly important live reporting.

For BILD and WELT we can fall back on our new studios in the new Axel Springer building, which technically leave nothing to be desired. "
