The final performance was held in Miyagawa-cho, one of the flower districts of Kyoto, before the reconstruction of the Kaburenjo, which had been used for over 100 years.

The special spring performance "Kyo Odori" in Hanamachi, Miyagawa-cho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, was held from the 2nd of this month, and the 11th was the Chiakigaku.

The Miyagawa-cho Kaburenjo, which was built in 1916, will be rebuilt due to deterioration, and the 11th will be the last performance at this venue.

The performance was canceled last year due to the influence of the new coronavirus, but this time we have reduced the number of seats to less than half, and took measures against infection such as reducing the number of performers and shortening the time. It was done.

The venue was filled with warm applause when the performers wearing gorgeous spring kimonos performed a supple dance to the sound of the shamisen and flute on the stage with cherry blossoms in full bloom.

Maiko Kohatsu, who finished the first stage this year, said, "I was nervous about preventing infection, but I'm glad I was able to go through the performance at the traditional kaburenjo."

Fukuba Fujiwara, the head of the Miyagawa-cho Geiko Association, said, "I'm thrilled to think that the performance at the memorable venue will end. I want to practice hard to perform traditional dances at the new kaburenjo." I did.
