On the 10th, the Tokyo Olympics Holy Fire Relay reached the goal of Hashimoto City after visiting the world heritage site of Mt. Koya on the second day of Wakayama Prefecture.

On the 10th of the second day of Wakayama Prefecture, the torch relay started in front of Wakayama Castle in Wakayama City before 9 am and toured the northern part of the prefecture in the morning.

Of these, in Iwade City, Atsuki Watanabe (13), a junior high school student who was longing for his grandfather who was a torchbearer at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, ran as the final runner.

Mr. Watanabe said, "I want to tell my grandpa that the torchbearer was really fun and I was able to experience the same feeling. I want to aim for the Olympics in the next marathon."

In the afternoon, we entered the world heritage site of Mt. Koya via Katsuragi Town, and visited the monk's training ground "Danjo Garan" and the gateway "Daimon".

In order to avoid crowds along the road, local government officials called on them to keep a distance from other people and applaud without making a loud voice.

The relay started in Hashimoto City in the evening, and the torch, which was connected by singer Fuyumi Sakamoto from Wakayama Prefecture, arrived at the goal sports park and a commemorative ceremony was held.

The torch relay will be handed over to Nara Prefecture next time.
