Vaccination open to over 55s from this Monday

Acceleration.

The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced in the

Sunday Journal

that vaccination would be open from this Monday to over 55s.

He explained that this would be possible thanks to two vaccines, that of AstraZeneca for "all French people over 55, without conditions, will be able to receive", and that of Johnson & Johnson, delivered in France from Monday.

The latter will be offered "for consistency and concern for efficiency, to everyone over 55, without conditions".

Queen Elisabeth II feels "a great void" with the death of Prince Philip

Two days after the death of her husband, Queen Elisabeth II said she felt "a great void in her life," her son, Prince Andrew, said on Sunday on British television, after a mass tribute to the prince Philip.

The Duke of Edinburgh passed away "peacefully" on Friday, two months before his 100th birthday.

Without pomp, the British royal family will officially bid farewell to the husband of Elizabeth II, next Saturday at a private funeral at Windsor Castle.

Only 30 people, presumably his four children (Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward), and his grandchildren, will attend under the rules related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Increasingly overloaded intensive care units

The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in intensive care continued to increase, climbing to 5,769, the highest for nearly a year, according to figures released on Saturday by Public Health France.

This figure had not been so high since April 17, 2020.

The health agency said 388 people had been admitted to critical care services (resuscitation, intensive care, continuous monitoring) within 24 hours.

On Friday, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran estimated that these services would continue to fill up "for at least 15 days".

Towards the end of short domestic air links by plane

The National Assembly voted on Saturday evening at first reading to delete certain domestic airlines, in the event of alternatives in the process of less than 2:30, after a lively debate and differences even in the majority.

This emblematic measure of the climate bill aims to eliminate links between Paris (Orly) and Nantes, Lyon or Bordeaux, but provides for exceptions for connecting journeys.

The Citizen's Convention for the Climate had demanded to give up domestic flights in the event of alternatives of less than 4 hours by train, and not 2:30.

That's it for tonight.

We will meet you tomorrow morning!
