Following the enforcement of the revised Seedling Law this month, which regulates the unauthorized removal of seeds and seedlings such as fruits registered in the country, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has announced the target varieties.

From the 10th, the export of seeds and seedlings to overseas is prohibited for 1975 varieties such as the high-class grape variety "Shine Muscat" and the strawberry "Amaou" from Fukuoka Prefecture.

The revised Seed and Seedling Law, which came into effect this month, allows developers to specify the country of export and the domestic cultivation area in order to prevent the outflow of seeds and seedlings such as fruits registered as new varieties in the country. It is prohibited to take it out to the country.

For six months after the enforcement of the law, even varieties that have already been registered or are pending can be restricted from being taken overseas if the developer notifies the country, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is eligible for 1975 varieties. Was announced on the 9th.

Specifically, there are high-class grape varieties "Shine Muscat", sweet potato "Beni Haruka", Fukuoka prefecture strawberry "Amaou", and Hokkaido brand rice "Yumepirika".

From the 10th, these varieties will be prohibited from taking out seeds and seedlings overseas.

Regarding branded fruits developed in Japan, there are many cases where they are taken overseas without permission, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will continue to add more targets to protect the rights and interests of developers.
