At the beginning of February, Altice, parent company of BFMTV, announced the acquisition of the local channel Azur TV located in Nice.

The Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA) has just given the green light to this acquisition.

Since 2019, Azur TV, created in 2013, was controlled by Iskandar Safa, also owner of the weekly

.

The transfer of the channel was subject to the approval of the CSA.

Develop news channels in the regions

In its decision, the regulator considered that this takeover was in the nails, and in particular that "the operation is not likely to compromise the priority imperative of pluralism and the interest of the public".

The CSA did not identify any breach of the anti-concentration rules.

The strategy of Patrick Drahi's group is to develop information channels in the regions.

This acquisition will strengthen this position.

The media is already present with six local channels (BFM Paris, BFM Lyon, BFM Grand Lille, BFM Grand Littoral, to which were added in March BFM DICI Haute-Provence and BFM DICI Alpes-du-Sud).
